Meet Martina
I’m Martina Maričević, founder of Croatian Citizenship Consultants, a Croatia-based consultancy specializing in Croatian citizenship by descent, Croatian ancestral record retrieval, and personalized application support.
I help individuals and families around the world navigate the process of reconnecting with their Croatian heritage, from understanding their eligibility and researching family history to locating Croatian ancestral records, preparing documents, and navigating the citizenship application process.
What began as professional experience in citizenship by descent grew into something I wanted to approach differently: with more personal attention, clear communication, and genuine care for the family story behind every application.

Before founding Croatian Citizenship Consultants, I spent approximately four years working in the citizenship-by-descent field, gaining hands-on experience with around 100 citizenship cases and helping clients navigate family histories, document requirements, record discrepancies, and application processes.
That experience gave me an understanding not only of the administrative side of citizenship applications, but also of the challenges families often encounter along the way, ancestors whose names changed after emigration, records scattered across different countries, missing documents, conflicting information, and requirements that can vary depending on where an applicant lives and applies.
Today, I bring that experience to my own consultancy, providing personalized support to individuals and families seeking Croatian citizenship and helping make what can initially feel like an overwhelming process clearer, more organized, and manageable.

Croatian Citizenship Consultants is based in Croatia and works with individuals and families around the world, particularly those seeking to reconnect with their Croatian ancestry across generations.
Being based in Croatia allows me to work directly with Croatian archives, registry offices, certified translators, and other relevant institutions when assisting clients with ancestral research, document retrieval, and application preparation.
At the same time, much of my work involves navigating documents and requirements across borders, whether an applicant’s family settled in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, South America, or elsewhere.

Meet Paško
Paško is the little face of Croatian Citizenship Consultants, inspired by one of Croatia’s most beautiful cultural traditions: Paška čipka, or Pag lace.
Traditionally handmade by generations of lace makers on the island of Pag, this intricate craft represents patience, heritage, and traditions passed carefully from one generation to the next. That made it the perfect inspiration for Paško.
You’ll find him throughout the website helping explain the citizenship journey, exploring Croatian family history, peeking around corners, and occasionally getting himself buried beneath a pile of matične knjige.
More than just a mascot, Paško represents something at the heart of Croatian Citizenship Consultants: the connection between family, heritage, and Croatia that can continue across generations.
